Generaal was born on the Planet Betazed out of a Human mother, although it appeared he had telepathic abilities at first, 
he later developed no significant mental abilities that could qualify as above average to a Betazed. 
After 2 years on Betazed his parents moved to earth, so that his father (a grandson of Geordi LaForge) could join Starfleet.

At the age of 12 the eyesight of young Generaal began to fade. Not knowing what happened to him, and thinking it was temporary, 
he never told anyone, untill the day he woke up without any vision at all. 
He was rushed into hospital where it was told that he suffered from Cortical Blindness due to a virus. 
His vision would never come back, or at least not as he was used to it.

After a year of tests and determening that an optical implant would mean that his eyes would have to be surgically removed, 
they chose for the less invasive action that would allow the young Generaal to continue to grow. 
He was fitted a VISOR (Visual Instrument - Sensory Organ Replacement), like his great grandfather Geordi LaForge.

After spending 4 years rehabilitating and getting used to the VISOR, he was accepted into the state university, 
where he finished his education Summa Cum Laude. A few years after his graduation, 
his parents died in a shuttlecrash on the Utopia Planitia Fleetyard, Mars.

Aging 24, Generaal joined Starfleet.
