Name

2nd Starship to bear the name. Erebus was the Protogenos of darkness, consort of Nyx, whose dark mists enveloped the edges of the world, and filled the deep hollows of the earth. His wife Nyx drew these mists across the heavens to bring night to the world.

Role

The Sagan-class ship was designed and built by Starfleet in the later years of the 24th century. By 2401, the first ship in the class, the USS Stargazer, had already received an NCC commission, and was the first of a new class of ship to utilize components derived from research on the Borg cube Artifact that was found in the Beta Quadrant.

Construction and Initial Assignment

Construction was complete on the yet names Sagan Class USS Erebus on Stardate 050523. The Erebus is permanently assigned to Pinastri Headquarters as it's support ship. When not in use for the Colony's purposes, the Erebus conducts Engineering and Scientific operations in Sector 001, as well as serving in a system defense role.
