Biography
Born in 2362, Fiona "Summoner" Castaignede grew up in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. Her parents, Mark and Sophie, encouraged her love of space and science, as well as a healthy interest in history and the arts. Throughout her childhood, Fiona tended not to get along very well with other people, which caused some difficulties for her education. However, her love of science pulled her towards physics in highschool, and her enjoyment of history towards theology, a subject which she would later go on to study at university level.

In her early 20s, Fiona applied to become a Starfleet officer, when she realized that her degree in theology was actually somewhat impractical. Sadly, by this point, Earth's Starfleet Academy wouldn't take her owing to her age, so instead, she sent out an application to the Academy on Pinastri, who -- in a stroke of luck -- accepted her.

Fiona's time in the Academy was otherwise unremarkable, aside from a sole incident involving an intruder at the facility, when she had been shot. Coming to her aid had been an officer she had highly respected, as her superior and her friend -- Lenneir DeCuir -- who promptly called Security.

In 2382, Fiona graduated and became a Security officer. She quickly adapted to the job, oftentimes pushing herself a little too hard, and occasionally worrying her superior officers. In the line of her work, she became known as "the Summoner" -- a name which stuck as her security codename -- because of her strange ability to summon trouble. A few months down the line, the worries of her superior officers were borne out when Fiona started suffering from nightmares and depression. Trying to cope wasn't easy and rather than continue with her duties, she asked to move to another branch. Her request was granted.

As a member of Sciences, Fiona worked under the command of Lenneir DeCuir, who had since become a good friend. He took great joy in teasing her for being "a keener" for getting reports and assignments completed quickly. Sometime later, following discussions with Admiral Calhoun, Castaignede would form the Pathfinder project -- designed to ensure someone was available in the welcome center at all times, and to make the welcome center more efficient and helpful for guests -- becoming its commanding officer.

Despite the warmth and enthusiasm of many officers who supported the project, some expressing a wish to join Pathfinder, the project itself was fraught with problems -- most of which were the result of rookie mistakes made by Fiona during her time as its CO. Her dislike of asking for help, inability to stay on top of her paperwork, and attempts to pretend everything was alright, eventually came back to haunt her. In the end, she accepted that she honestly should have turned to the chain of command for help, instead of hiding the problems, and took full responsibility for the problems, resigning as Pathfinder's CO.

At a loss for what to do, and too ashamed to face DeCuir and Fremont of the Sciences branch, Fiona moved to the Marines. Despite her discomfort, she was given a leadership role in SOCOM, and, with help from the Commandant and his Deputy, attempted to integrate SOCOM more closely with Security. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be.

In 2384, Fiona retired, following skirmishes between Starfleet and a group using cross-galaxy-teleportation-technology. Her disagreement with the concept of going to war with them resulted in a shouting match with certain authority figures. It was something she never forgave herself for, long after she settled into civilian life. But despite seeking forgiveness from those she had wronged during that timeframe, her own scruples kept her from letting go of the guilt she still felt over it.

During frequent visits to friends and family as a civilian, Fiona was kept aware of events back on Pinastri. Following a conversation with Lenneir, who had since become her adoptive brother, Fiona began to explore the possibilities for returning to active duty. She had watched him over several weeks as the workload within his own division had seemed to stress him out, and -- after discussing her circumstances with friends -- she filed paperwork with the Office of Personnel.

As of November 2385, Fiona was accepted back to active duty, with the goal of rejoining Sciences and accepting her duty to help her older brother. However, it wasn't to last, and after a period of reflection, Fiona shifted once more, heading for Communications, under the command of Kermie Mistwallow. Owing to a lapse of judgement on her part, it wasn't long before she found herself in trouble, and to avoid any further damage, she took temporary leave.

Little over a month later, Fiona was once more recalled to duty, in the Marine Corps, initially as a paper-pusher, before requesting further duties as a teacher. Unfortunately, stress and a resurgance of old memories and related issues resulted in her anxiety issues remanifesting. Turning to her older brother, Lenneir, he took her back in as a member of Science. During the move from Athena to her temporary station at Nimbus, Fiona had been carrying her pet kitten, Kaylee, and was somewhat surprised when she found herself rematerialised at Nimbus bearing fur, pointy ears, tail and feline-like features. Her kitten survived the move intact, but it appeared the transporter buffers had gotten rather confused, resulting in Fiona becoming a Felis/Human hybrid. Surprisingly, Fiona took well to the change, enjoying the newfound energy, strength, and benefits to her visual, aural and olfactory senses.

Sometime later, Fiona and Kaylee were finally returned to their normal forms. It was admittedly something of a relief, as the augmentations to her senses were becoming overwhelming, and it was nice to have her feline friend back.
