Biography
|
I am Chameloid. My base form is a dark-skinned, drow-like female humanoid. I named her Poison. It is said that Chameloids may only take humanoid forms, however I have been able to shift successfully into the shape of an animal. The spirit of the Wolf is my guide in many things. She came to me when I was a youngling, cast adrift on the shores of an unknown sea on a world that was new to me. I do not remember my mother, save that her wings were a shimmering gold. I saw them rise into the sky, followed by something dark and sinister. I lay there for many days. The she-wolf came. I looked at her, and became like her. She cared for me. Years passed, she grew old and died. Yet her thoughts are with me. I explored the galaxy, the quadrants, taking forms that would be accepted by the others I met when necessary. I am a private creature. I prefer solitude. Still I wished for more than a transitory nomadic existence. The opportunity came to visit the Delta Quadrant, and I took it. I had, of course, heard of the Federation in my travels. I entered into the Academy. I was unused to spending time in confined spaces, therefore I spent three years as a Freshman, experiencing this new life. My time in training was extended beyond what most others would do but it helped me. I grew used to the confined quarters and the presence of others. I enjoy learning, studying. I like reading poetry and Shakespeare. In spite of my shyness I am interested in meeting other sentient Beings. After graduation into the Operations Branch I was asked if I would take an assignment in the Astraios Sector, which is located in the Gamma Quadrant (3rd Rock Grid). I have served there from 110111 to 150830.
It was the first home I'd ever had, and the first family I'd ever known. But on 150830 a catostrophic event occured in the Astraios Sector when an illegal isolytic weapon was used, creating a rift that drew in a good deal of the Takaar Nebula and several planetary systems, one of which contained the moon N'Doto, which I was visiting. At first we thought the devastation on the moon surface was caused by an earthquake and tidal waves. But then we realized something more profound had happened: the system had moved in space to an area we did not know. Only after a long search and exhaustive efforts, we were able to deduce we were near the Bodan System, several hundred light years coreward of Astraios Prime. Also with us came the planet Keta, and Takaar Prime. Takaar was so badly damaged all we could do was save the remaining Welkins and Sylarks, bringing them to N'Doto or Keta as refugees. Food and water supplies had been affected by the event, and I stepped in, as a representative of Starfleet, to assist in finding diplomatic solutions to the strain on resources. When we were finally able to contact Starfleet again, after a great deal of consideration I decided to return to the Delta Quadrant to assist in the relocation of the DQ Fleet. I was proud to command the USS Taylorholic Durant in her mission of mediation, diplomacy and humanitarian aid throughout the quadrant, from 160320 to 210919.
Frequent visits home to Astraios Prime engendered feelings of nostalgia in me. I was invited to participate in various activities and consulted for my opinion on a recent Colony rebuild. As I visited with old friends and was welcomed back into the community by both Starfleet officers and Astraios civilians, an idea began to germinate. After long consideration I proposed a new ship-of-the-line for Astraios. It was to be a starbase, a ground facility, dedicated to bringing together the best creative minds for the purpose of innovation, imagination and interdisciplinary collaboration. On 220512 the Denkiri Centre for Creativity was commissioned, and was active until the colony was disbanded on 230101.
I returned to Pinastri Prime in the Delta Quadrant to pick up the reins of my life, serving at Starfleet Command, contemplating my future.
(Due to the rarity of this species the Federation of Planets put them on the Endangered Species list in 2292. Their secretive nature and attributes have been accepted as a form of defense against such extinction.)
