Biography
I joined UFS for the same reasons as Dan Hunsaker. That's because I am Dan, but I had to change my name to prevent issues with paperwork and general confusion, after being created via some form of transporter duplication incident. Luckily for me (but not for Personnel), Federation officials decided not to simply dematerialize me as a fluke, but rather permit me to continue living as a distinct being in my own right. There may have been lawyers involved; I can't be sure, as I was in an interrogation cell at the time while UFS decided what I was and whether I posed a threat to the Federation. All routine stuff, of course, with a scenario like mine. On the bright side, the other me has been hugely helpful in a number of ways. We don't seem to resent each other, which is nice. That might be partly because we used to fantasize about what it might be like if there were more than one of us. You know, back before it actually happened. As soon as Dan was contacted about my existence, as part of standard protocol, they did everything in their power to speed along the process of my release. And so here I am, finally entering Starfleet, with the help of myself from the inside. Thank goodness I'm a transporter glitch and not a time travel paradox or alternate reality version of myself.
