Biography
Back in the 2380s, the USS Wraith discovered the Khitomer wormhole, changing the Federation forever. Once the Federation Council approved a plan to set up a Federation colony in the Delta quadrant, they began to recruit personnel. The trip through the wormhole was long, and it was likely for the colonists that it could be a one way trip.

My parents, neither having a close family back on earth, decided to sign up. Mom was an organic chemist and dad was a maintenance engineer, and by June 2381 they were on their way to the delta quadrant as part of the second wave of the colonization effort.

Upon arrival, they worked in their specialties to build the new colony. Dad was kept busy with the completely new base and mom had her hands full analyzing samples as Starfleet swept through the adjacent sectors collecting samples.

I was born in 2394, and my sister Sylvia two years later. I went through the Federation’s school system, then two years of pre-Academy college. I had always planned to apply for the Starfleet Academy, but on a whim, I chose instead to sign up as an apprentice crewman in the merchant shipping fleet. I was footloose then, not ready for the rigor required by Starfleet. I spent four years traveling around, visiting most of the systems within 50 light years of Pinastri on trading runs. Along the way I earned a watch keeping certificate and an engineering certificate and completed my apprenticeship.

Finally, I'd had enough of cramped merchant ships delivering the same old mining machinery and gel packs, returned to Pinastri and signed up for Starfleet Academy as an adult student. My dad thought I should be an Engineer and mom thought I’d be a great scientist. Since the “loser” would never hear the end of it, I decided to specialize in Operations to keep peace in the family.

I had no problems with the Academy, kept my nose clean and graduated as an Ensign.
