Biography
Hanna Margaret Kestrel was born in the year 2357 to Madelyn and Thomas Kestrel of the planet Betazed, in the city of Medara. She was born into the Royal Kestrel Family, and as such, was among the most privileged across the entire planet. Growing up, she had the best education, the best tutors, the best clothing, pretty much the best of everything that money could buy. Like the rest of her family, and other families of privilege and stature, they we're quite snobbish and stuck up. Hanna had resented her parents because of this quite annoying family trait, and the more her parents pushed the responsibilities of privilege on her, the more she resented them, until a giant wedge began to form between them, causing a rift that seemed to only get wider with each passing year.

With Hanna being at odds with her parents, it gave her the chance to get to know her grandmother, Kirsten Carter, whom she loved very much. The family fortune is actually owned by Kirsten Carter, who wasn't around much, mostly due to her mother, who just hated the woman beyond belief, which deprived Hanna the chance to spend time with her growing up, with the exception of the occasional birthday and holiday celebration, which her mother tried to fight against even that. However, when Hanna turned twelve years old, she finally got her way when she started insisting that her father let me spend more time with her grandmother, finally winning out. As a result, Hanna and her grandmother became closer than ever, but unfortunately her relationship with her parents suffered even more as a result. When Hanna graduated from Madera Senior High School, and then went on to graduate from the University of Medara, majoring in medical studies. It was anticipated that Hanna would go into some kind of medical field. Kirsten Carter had Hanna hand-picked to take over and inherit the entire Carter fortune, which seemed to only infuriate and completely alienate Hanna from her mother and father evenmore. However, much to everyone's surprise, Hanna had announced that she planned to submit her application to Starfleet Academy to become a Starfleet Officer. While her grandmother didn't understand Hanna's reasons for this decision immediately, she accepted it and fully supported Hanna in her quest to be her own person and promised that she would always have a place in the Carter Foundation when she was ready.


During the planned expedition to the Pinastri System, being led by the USS Aviator and the entire Colonization Task Force under the command of Admiral Mike Calhoun in order to establish an official Starfleet Presence in the Delta Quadrant, Hanna joined this expedition as an Applicant of Starfleet Academy. The understanding was that if she failed to be accepted, she would be part of the Colonization Effort in the settlement on Pinastri.


On Stardate 100405, Hanna Kestrel was formally accepted into Starfleet Academy as a Cadet, and she graduated on Stardate 100504, becoming the first person in the entire Carter-Kestrel Family to successfully join Starfleet.
