Biography
|
I am a botanist. I have studied other Sciences as well, including Microbiology, Zoology, Astronomy, and Social Sciences. Each of these areas of Science have great value, and I am an ongoing student always learning. However, Botany is my field of expertise and my greatest enjoyment. I grew up gardening with my maternal grandparents on visits to their home, and that was the start of my career. My paternal grandmother is a doctor and my maternal grandmother and my mother are both architects and gardeners. My parents and grandparents all had a great influence on my life as I grew up. I have always had their love, but I also wanted their respect, and pride in me. This is one of the reasons I joined Starfleet, and it worked! They are very proud that I am now a Star Fleet Officer. I only wish my father were here to see me. My father was handsome and charismatic. He was always an adventurer at heart, visiting different places and roaming until he fell in love with my mother and settled down.
My father noticed I had an interest in plants at an early age, and encouraged me to study and learn about them. He was a freighter Captain and on his runs to different places he would always bring me back data on plants, along with cuttings and sometimes full plants. I studied plants for their beauty, history, and nutritional and healing values.
It was on one of his runs near the tropical planet Ligon II, that my father’s ship disappeared. He and his minimal crew were lost. It is a mystery that has caused much pain to me and to everyone that loved them. Readings of the area showed no signs of an explosion, the ship simply vanished.
For years, I was in therapy learning to deal with the sudden loss of my beloved father. I did my best to help my mother and older brother to learn to cope as well. We will never be the same, but we must go on and live our lives. The hardest part is not knowing what happened to him. I feel I am to blame. I believe he was making a detour to the tropical planet to get plants for me, and I feel such anguish and deep sorrow when I think of it. I soothe my hurt by believing he is still alive and well; somehow transported to another place, on an adventure of a lifetime, and we will be together again someday.
