Biography
With parents that worked as archaeologist, Bing grew up traveling the galaxy as his parents were often working a cultural site or hunting down important artifacts of ancient peoples. Experts in pre-warp socio-cultural activities, their work focused on cultural expression through significant family, commerce, and food production activities of ancient societies. Young Bing found himself often in his parent's labs, sorting objects and developing a curiosity for other species. After his compulsory studies, Bing found work in fields that challenged him, mechanics, construction, agriculture.. where science and application intersect. Bing's journey to Starfleet began at an early age as his parents, renowned Archaeologists Oskar Kronos and Eileen (Hagstad) Kronos, included their sons along on their travels. Calling the North American Pacific Northwest home, Bing was a child of discovery and learning regardless of whether his parents were dragging him off to an important dig, or completing their analysis and publishing/teaching responsibilities at SEATAC University. Bing's journey took a more independent path after the death of his brother. Working among the trades and craftsmen Bing's interest in other cultures, and his parent's influential lessons from their work, eventually led him to study the culinary arts. Taking work in kitchens and galleys on both and Terra and spaceship, he mastered the culinary arts and techniques of several Federation cultures as a contractor. This also rekindled his interest in his parents work focusing on the food and diet of ancient peoples across the galaxy, before deciding to take the next step and join Starfleet. His choice of the Sciences branches allows him to continue his love for "how things work and how 'they' are' found all over the universe and pursue advance study of the culinary skills, techniques, foods and recipes of ancient peoples.
