| I am human of Nordic extraction whose parents were frontier colonists in a very remote Federation outpost in the Gamma Vega Quadrant (planet UFHP 2034, known to it's inhabitants as Zênê). An unknown virus swept through the colony which killed all the adults and most of the children. At 3 yrs old and as the youngest child I survived with 4 others, however a large predatory arachnid species ate my companions and would have eaten me also had I not been rescued by one of the endemic chordate species (semi-intelligent reptilians with primitive technology) known among themselves as "NgaV'dan". The Federation rescue craft found only the dead and eaten remains of colonists and I was presumed to have perished also. I was raised by an old female of this species, Watapu, to be a servant in her swamp dwelling. The Federation did not return to this closed-down colony until I was 17, at which point I was taken to Astraios Colony, known locally as 3RG. The main things I aquired from my childhood and adolescent years were an ear for xenolinguistics, a desire to serve, and an understanding that all simians, but me in particular, are extraordinarily ugly and repulsive creatures (although I can usually handle their ugliness without nausea now that a decade has passed). Raised in a high gravity environment (2G), I had an unscheduled growth spurt reaching around 9ft in height on this planet. Acclimated to being naked in a very cold climate, I now find wearing clothes difficult and usually insert icepacks in my seams or use weightless fabrics. My early years also scrambled my social skills and I have been known to regularly say inappropriate things and to get my social signals mixed up (I sometimes laugh at jokes I don't find funny and sneer when I do, etc). As a visitor to Earth I fell in love with ancient Japanese poetry—very similar to NgaV'dan poetry—and with Greek Mythology, which almost exactly replicates NgaV'dan stories. I am single because I am so ugly. | |||||
