This page contains the duties and responsibilities for the department heads within the Office of Computer Operations.

Currently CompOps has 2 distinct departments - Infrastructure department and the Support department

Head of Infrastructure

Head of Infrastructure - Computer Operations

Duties

  • Controls the Access required into each of the UFS systems
  • Leads in investigating new systems as and when required of UFS
  • Keep track of the activity of the support team members for future awards and promotions.
  • Stand as a mediator when a member is not satisfied with the system created/maintained.
  • Liaise with Chief and Vice Chief with respect to future UFS requirements.
  • Act in the capacity of Systems Administrator
  • Perform 3rd level technical support where required
  • Resolve escalated issues
  • Lead in the performance of audits

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Chief and Vice Chief CompOps
  • Liaise with Head of Support with regard to scheduled and unscheduled outages
  • Provide updated performance metrics where available
  • Liaise with other departments on infrastructure related issues

Head of Support

Head of Support - Computer Operations
Currently held by R-o5.png Andrew Kerr

Duties

Duties include all that is expected of someone under this department as a regular Computer Operations Officer. Additionally, the head of support is required to perform the following duties

  • Keep track of the activity of the support team members for future awards and promotions.
  • Stand as a mediator when a member is not satisfied with the tech response.
  • Act in a supervisory role and perform 2nd level support as required for escalated issues.
  • Ask for help when needed from Eddie or Sniper as required.
  • Ability to solve problems with very little supervision.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to interact with members in a diplomatic way.

Responsibilities

The Head of Support has the responsibility over the support area within CompOps. This includes the maintenance of relevant reporting as required by the Chief and Vice Chief of CompOps to assist in the preparations of the Office's MSR. Additionally the Head of Support is responsible for liasing directly with the Head of infrastructure for items that require further resolution from a technical standpoint.
